After more than two decades as an executive at a major multinational company, Hugo Vaca (55) is fired without severance and must face the harsh reality the job market offers him: at 55 he's considered too old to be hired by a company again, but still too young to retire. His income drops quickly, his savings run out, and his social status begins to crumble. Without a job, without money, and with a high standard of living to maintain, Hugo is forced to cut his expenses and start working at whatever he can find, whether driving for Uber or doing odd jobs. On the verge of desperation, a friend connects him with a group of investors who offer to buy his house — valued at one million dollars — for 50% of its worth, but with the right of usufruct, meaning Hugo would get to keep living in the house until he dies. Hugo seriously considers the offer, but has doubts about how trustworthy these businessmen really are. Cornered by his circumstances, Hugo finally accepts the deal, but things end up getting far more complicated than he ever imagined.
